Cycling
During the ice ages, glaciers transported rock from the Alps to the region. From the 13th century it was used in Isny as building material for the city wall, the length of which is given as 1,326 m in 1826. Today, around 740 m of the former defense and fortifications are still standing. Wooden battlements, which ran around the entire city on the inside of the wall in the Middle Ages, offered protection against attackers as well as wind and weather. Visitors can still discover the original arrow slits on the partially walkable battlements on the lower city wall.
