Hiking

The Rureifel geographically includes the towns of Nideggen, Heimbach, Schleiden and Monschau as well as the communities of Simmerath, Hürtgenwald, Kreuzau and Hellenthal and is therefore a sub-area of the West Eifel. It is well known as a holiday region and day trip destination with the second largest dam in Germany, the Rur Dam Schwammenauel and the Eifel National Park and the North Eifel Nature Park.
