The oldest written mention of this temple, and at the same time the oldest documentary about the Great Bites, comes from the year 1240 when the Czech king and the Moravian Margrave Wenceslas I. renounced patronage law in favor of the Tisnov Cistercian monastery, Porta Coeli. Originally, the church was wooden, only in the 13th century began the construction of a stone church in Romanesque style. The present form was acquired by the temple from about the middle of the 14th century, when a presbyterial part with an adjoining sacristy and a ship with a large tower was built.
