The Hohlsteiner Steinbruch, better known as Holsteinbruch, the only extensive natural monument in Nuremberg and habitat for the yellow-bellied toad, an endangered and strictly protected amphibian species. The green color of the water and the large stone blocks make the quarry a popular photo opportunity. Although swimming is prohibited, the small quarry is used as a place to relax and the lake is used for swimming.
