A post mill was already located on the scenic Geestrücke in 1651. The current Galerie-Holländer-Windmill was built in its place in 1761. It is 29 m high, has two floors and has a thatched tower. Each of the four wings is eleven meters long. In order to be able to optimally adapt the grinding operation to the wind conditions, it was retrofitted with a wind rose in 1912. An electric motor was installed later. Until 1965, the "Dutchman" worked with two grinders and a roller mill. Then this mill also fell victim to the mill's death - it was shut down. Since 1969 the mill has been open to the public for visits as part of mill tours under the care of the "Association for the Preservation of the Achimer Windmühle e.V." The focus of a tour is in the areas of architecture, carpentry and the way the mill works. Civil weddings are also possible here from May to September.
This monument is a landmark of Achim.
