The Bannholzmauer (approx. 765 m) is a striking rock formation in the middle of the high forest north of the Wurbauerkogel (858 m) near Windischgarsten. It offers a via ferrata facility with four short via ferrata. The practice via ferratas have difficulty B (easy to moderately difficult), C (difficult), D (very difficult) and an E (extremely difficult). The via ferrata facility is open to the public and ideal for exercises by alpine clubs or mountain rescue teams. From the fenced summit of the Bannholzmauer you have a beautiful view of the Veichl Valley, Rading and the green, wooded foothills of the southern Sengsengebirge. The summit is easily accessible from hiking trail 8 even without using the via ferrata (only rope railings and steps). From the summit, the practice via ferrata can be reached in 5 minutes. The chair lift on the Wurbauerkogel can be used for the ascent.
