    Jesuit Church, Solothurn
The Jesuit church was built between 1680 and 1689 according to the principles of the Voralberg master builders as a baroque unit room with impressive, magnificent stucco work in the Italian style. The high altar made of marbled wood shows the image of the Assumption of Mary by Franz Carl Stauder.

    Ambassadorenkrippe in the Jesuitenkirche Solothurn

With the "Ambassadorenkrippe" a unique rarity lures all nativity lovers into the most beautiful Baroque city in Switzerland.
The Solothurn "Ambassadorenkrippe" is an unique ensemble of baroque nativity figures in Switzerland. Presumably from the middle of the 18th century come the approximately 60 ornately crafted crib figures. The lifelike wax heads carry individual facial features. Magnificent garments made of historical fabrics adorn the figures.

The nativity scene is exhibited in the Jesuit church in the old town of Solothurn, from late November to early January.

    1318

The House of Habsburg made claim to the whole Central Plateau. Already in 1295 Solothurn therefore concluded an alliance with the more powerful neighboring city of Bern. After his defeat at Morgarten Archduke Leopold of Austria planned a campaign of revenge, which should attack over Solothurn and Bern the forest from the west. It all started in the autumn of 1318 with the six-week siege of Solothurn. During the siege of Solothurn by the Habsburg Duke Leopold in 1318, when the makeshift Aare bridge ... swept along the floodwaters, the Solothurners rescued their enemies from drowning.
