A purely natural tour. On nature trails, sometimes always along the water, you can meander through untouched nature. Even the blueberries and cranberries feel good here. Paths are signposted and of varying lengths. BBQ areas are available

There are many paths in the nature reserve, including the Sigfridsleden, which leads past the old castle, from where the views are impressive.

The Notteryd Nature Reserve, located approximately 7 km northeast of Växjö, offers a rich cultural history. Among other things, the only old castle in the county is located here. It was built in the Bronze Age and may have been used as a fenced-in burial or cult space during excavations.

During the 19th century, the need for food production increased and new farms were built and land cleared for farming and mowing, now seen as the remains of building foundations, stone walls and cairns. In the middle of the burning World War, at the beginning of the 1940s, a military training area was created here, traces of which can still be seen in the form of bunkers, shooting ranges and shooting ranges with dikes and bullet traps.

The open meadows of the nature reserve and its forest with old and decaying trees represent a high natural value. Thanks to the fact that the area was a military training area, the forests were left untouched, making them barren and flooded with light.
The last storms have mainly felled a lot of spruce forest and the rotting wood is now a habitat for many unusual species such as green shield moss, wood stair moss and wire tick. The unusual book edge lichen can also be found on an old book in Notteryd.

Herbs and grasses grow in the open fields. Herbs include hay fever, horseradish, virgin, nightshade and almond blossom. Flowering herbs, shrubs and trees attract insects such as little bastard warmers and silver blues. The sandy embankments make the area particularly favorable for insects, which can build their nests in loose, sun-warmed soil.

Parts of the three lakes Toftasjön, Stensjön and Lövsjön are included in the reserve. The Vikahultabäcken flows through the area and where it meets the Toftasjön the unusual lemon-spotted marsh dragonfly has been spotted. There are several species of birds in the reserve, including osprey, great bustard, barn owl and crow.
