Rondvassbu is the DNT cabin in the very heart of the Rondane National Park and is deservedly popular. Originally built in 1903, the facility has seen many renovations in its time and provides unrivalled access to Rondane’s major peaks and trails. If you plan to camp nearby, you can still pay for the use of the facilities and purchase food.

Hiking

Rondvassbu is one of the largest and most visited DNT (German National Tourist Board) serviced huts. Located on Lake Rondvatnet and only six kilometers (4 mi) from the Spranget parking lot (bikes can even be rented on site for this route), the hut serves as a starting point for many tourists and hikers for summit tours of the numerous 2,000-meter peaks (with Rondeslottet as the highest peak) and for the classic "Rondvassbu – Dørålseter – Bjørnhollia – Rondvassbu" hike. A small ferry (Rondejenta) operates twice daily across Lake Rondvatnet to shorten the first leg of this hike.
