Berlin's highest "mountain" was created from a former rubble dump. Now you can enjoy the wide view over the city and swim in the offshore gravel lakes.

In 2016, the first ideas for the former Arkenberge landfill were presented to the Pankow district assembly; an 80-hectare recreation area could be created.
About 30 attractions in the areas of sport, recreation and education are planned. There will also be accommodation in bungalows and five restaurants. In addition to overnight guests, an average of 1,500 to 2,000 day visitors are expected. A total of 200 jobs could be created.
The highlight should be the panoramic view of Berlin - with the summit house and viewing terrace. An ensemble with gastronomy, lake stage and jetty is to be created on one of the lakes. A "Strandbad Arkenberge" as well as a pool area and an indoor swimming pool with a wave pool are also planned. A mountain sports center also offers sporting activities. This will be covered and inside there will be a mat ski slope for skiers and snowboarders. In addition, an environmental education center for schoolchildren with a project house and nature conservation station is planned....

The planned recreational area has still not begun. Too bad. Would offer.
