This terrain has two functions. On the one hand it is a training track for racehorses and on the other hand the residents use it as a recreational area.

But for the historical part:
The area has a total of 4 lanes. One sand track (3470 m) and three grass tracks (3370 m, 3270 m and 3170 m). For that time (heyday in the 1920s), the site had an ultra-modern irrigation system that was fed by the Hermannpfuhl. Unfortunately, the Hermannpfuhl has now dried up and you can still see the remains of the pumping station, which was destroyed by a grenade in WWII. The irrigation system ran as a ring channel between the first and second grass runway.

Current:
The owner of the Hoppegarten racecourse, Gerhard Schöningh, bought the site in 2015. Let's see how it goes from there. The forest inside has already been partially cleared 😳
