A bailey bridge is a bridge that consists of standard segments and can be assembled as such very quickly. The basis of the design is a half-timbered bridge. This type of bridge was initially designed for use by military forces of the army and can span a maximum of 60 meters freely and can carry heavy vehicles. This bridge type is still in use for military and civilian applications and is regarded worldwide as a fine example of military technology.
