In winter, the hut owner rents out sledges for sledding down the toll road. We heard that this is a lot of fun for visitors.

Unfortunately, last winter 6 sledges were missing and visitors simply took them.

The Edelrautehütte is located at 1,725 m above sea level and can be reached from Hohentauern on foot (5.5 km) or by car or bus via the toll road. From the parking lot it is about 10 minutes on foot to the hut; in exceptional cases you can drive up to the hut. The alpine club hut of the Austria section is the right place for day tourists and hikers to explore the nearby large Scheibelsee or to climb the surrounding mountains (e.g. Bösenstein 2,448 m; Großer Hengst 2,159 m).
