Hiking

Dettingen with today scarcely 10,000 inhabitants was first mentioned in documents in 1089, followed in 1534 the Reformation, developed in the 19th century into an important commercial and industrial site. The cultivation on orchards, especially the cherries remained but still a significant source of income. There are around 14,000 cherry trees in the municipality of Dettingen. It is therefore understandable that in 2004 the Kirschenweg was set up with information boards. The variety of cherry varieties has been illustrated since 2006 with the "Dettinger Kirschenheimat". For this purpose, 80 trees of 42 different varieties were planted.

Hiking

The “Dettinger Kirschenweg” (Dettinger Cherry Path) extends over a length of 2.3 km between the Dettinger landmark, the Calverbühl and the Metzingen-Glems district boundary. From 13 panels you can find out, for example, since when there has been fruit growing in the Ermstal, how trees are grafted, which beneficial insects exist, but also which pests reduce the yield, how cherry trees are cared for and much more. ”
