The old cemetery of Mortehan is a very old small necropolis located on the banks of the Semois, in the village of Mortehan located in the entity of Bertrix. In a grassy plot, infinitely simple and under the shade of old ash trees, stand graves that are almost all askew. These are slabs of schist dating for some from the 16th and 17th century. Undoubtedly we find there stones extracted by slate quarries in the area, see as such the underground slate quarry of Morépire, which still bears witness to the labor of underground workers.
