    Mountaineering

An exciting place steeped in history. Be sure to join the tour - lots of information about the Rocca di San Silvestro, the copper and lead mining there. The fortress dates from the Middle Ages (10th / 11th century), but the Etruscans already coaxed their hidden treasures from the surrounding mountains.

Also easy for children to do, especially if the short hike was preceded by the train ride through the mountain tunnels. Drinks and snacks can be bought just below the Rocca di San Silvestro.

    Hiking

Worth it! I strongly advise against climbing to the adjacent Monte Rombolo: The path above is very difficult (narrow, heavily overgrown). There is no descent to you on the other side - you walk over loose scree and through bushes - and above all: it ends in the quarry, the access of which is forbidden for tourists.

This castle was built to live and work there. It only serves to protect the people who have operated mining there. The castle was never of strategic importance.
