7 out of 8 dwarfs who set off have conquered the Brechhorn - the 2000er has probably seldom seen so many young summiteers (between 0 and 10 years old) :-)Before the last ascent, the 8th dwarf decided on the wooden ball track at the mountain railway station and hurried back with mom ahead. An ingenious multi-family hike in glorious late summer weather, even if nature was already partly autumnal. Great play of light and shadow thanks to the clouds in the sky, a real treat on the last day of the holiday!

Small but nice group at the end of our Rauristal week on Demian's birthday. The weather was fine this time, even if wind and light rain forced us to take a short rest in the Naturfreundehaus Neubau at the wheelhouse. Our youngest hiker was three years old - a tremendous achievement. On the way we had to cross 3 small snow fields, we were accompanied by cows, the 7 little goats (no joke) and one or the other brave marmot.Unfortunately, due to time constraints (even the weather would not have allowed it), we could not complete the Tauerngoldrundweg (approx. 2.5 hours extra, but very worthwhile) - maybe next time. Because afterwards we (especially the children) expected a round of legends and fairy tales with a concluding tunnel inspection and rock crystal search.

Today we were able to make excellent use of the few hours of sunshine and complete one of the most beautiful circular hiking trails starting from the Naturfreundehaus Kolm-Saigurn: the waterfall trail. The waterfall path itself is almost 3 km long and starts right next to / behind the Naturfreundehaus. It leads past numerous waterfalls and streams and also offers hikers great views. The hiking trail to the Hocharn branches off along the way. Shortly afterwards you reach the "Split Rock", a monster of a boulder that has broken apart spectacularly in the middle.Of course we had to climb this chunk and were able to enjoy the view over Kolm-Saigurn and the waterfall path during a rather windy rest.Walking time approx. An hour, but you should plan at least 1.5 - 2 hours for the entire loop. The Friends of Nature House was the perfect end. After a warm soup, the sun came out again, so that we could even stretch our legs in the Kneipp area (colder is almost impossible!).P.S. I deviated a little from the circular hiking trail and followed a river bed - maybe not for everyone. Surefootedness is essential. This also applies to the viewpoint that I headed for at the beginning of the waterfall path.

The bus takes you from the Bodenhaus stop to the Ammererhof near Kolm-Saigurn. There we start our tour and soon reach the entrance to the "Rauris Primeval Forest". A beautifully prepared themed trail, a natural jewel that impresses. We do not complete the circular route completely, but switch to the Durchgangsalm. There is a small snack there. After that, with increasing rain, we continue towards the Seealm and Mitterastenalm, mostly at the same altitude. At the Mitterastenalm we turn left and hike down to the Astenschmiede, past the Rauriser Urquell. An easy but very beautiful and also informative hike. There are only 300 meters of altitude to complete over a distance of almost 10 kilometers.

Originally, 8 of us wanted to storm the summit over the Widauersteig, but in the end only 4 of us reached the goal. One of them got mad the night before, the other 3 unfortunately had to cancel their sails (sensibly) before the Widauersteig due to the heat and bad form during the day.The remaining 4 hobbits were happy for those who stayed behind at the summit. Beautiful and exciting as always!
