The Köllnische forest is a large forest landscape, which invites to long walks and bike rides. Here you will also find the two city ponds. Nestled in the forest, they offer the visitor pure nature.

The classic is: Through the Köllnischer Wald to the Grafenmühle (best by bike). Köllnischer Wald + Halde Haniel is also recommended (homepage.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/maik-borris.luedemann/Haniel.html).

The city ponds in Bottrop are still (mostly in ignorance of the person of the namesake) of a few still called "Schlageter ponds". Albert Leo Schlageter was a martyr of the National Socialists. In his honor, the ponds were called in the time of National Socialism "Schlageter ponds". Only in recent years has the official name "Stadtteiche Bottrop" become more and more popular.
One of the two ponds can be circumnavigated. In addition, there is a playground where you probably can not get past with children.
