Hiking Highlight
The Capuchin Hermitage was created in 1783 with the English garden by Prince Josef Wenzel zu Fürstenberg.
In 1833 the Hermitage was rebuilt in its current form, the bell was purchased in 1890. Since 1981, the Black Forest Association has been committed to maintaining the small chapel.

Decades ago it was the attraction in the chapel for us children: visiting the monk.
There was a figure in a monk's robe behind a table in the dark. In front of it was an armchair on which a brave man could sit in awe. Your own body weight triggered a mechanism that clasped the legs. Only when a coin was inserted did the clamp release again.

The Hermitage, shod with tree bark on the outside and finely decorated with branches of various woods, is a rather gloomy affair inside.
