Tips

  • Cornell Paasche

The Helenesee is an artificial lake in a former open pit mine near Frankfurt (Oder). It is located in the conservation area "Former mining area Finkenheerd". The lake has the nickname "Little Baltic Sea", is considered one of the cleanest lakes in Brandenburg and is the second deepest lake in Brandenburg. There are many textile and nudist beaches around the lake. From Easter to October, various sporting and cultural events take place here.
The Helenesee can be reached from April to the beginning of November with the RB36 of the Niederbarnimer railway (between Frankfurt (Oder) and Königs Wusterhausen). In the remaining time either by bus, car or on foot.
