A fine example of the careful preservation of a monument from the 12th century is the Hirsau chapel in the district of Hundheim, set back in the meadows, with its wall paintings in the chancel from the 13th century. They were discovered in 1901. 25 years ago the restoration of the fully preserved medieval painting succeeded. The attraction of the building is the contrast between the original style and the early and late Gothic window elements.
