Strömstad City Hall was completed in 1917. The building is built in a grand Art Nouveau style. In the house there is a magical number symbolism - all according to the will of wholesaler Adolf Fritiof Cavalli-Holmgren. He was the one who donated money to the building.

Cavalli-Holmgren wanted the town hall to be inaugurated on January 27, 1911. That did not happen. The house was not ready until 1917. At that time, the relationship between the donor and the rulers in Strömstad was frosty, and no inauguration was relevant. The story goes that the donor therefore never got peace, and that he is occasionally seen in the town hall at night ever since the house was ready.

It was not inaugurated until 100 years later on January 27, 2017, when in connection with the house undergoing an extensive renovation.
