Mount Ngauruhoe

The very steep and slippery tour to the summit of the fateful mountain of Lord of the Rings is (for fit hikers) an absolute MUST. The view is just the greatest I've ever seen. On good days, even Mount Taranaki can be seen on the coast. Quite apart from the volcanoes, blue lakes and incomparable landscape all around. Good shoes are absolutely recommended here and best also the hiking backpack stowed at the bottom of a rock and take only the most necessary with up.
