The legendary Hundsburg. This is said to have been the seat of the Knights of Rosphe from 1050 AD, who were appointed by the Archbishop of Mainz as administrators of the castle forest. In the course of the feuds between the bishop and the landgraves, however, the early medieval castle complex was completely destroyed, today only sparse remains of the foundation can be seen.

For everyone who is irritated by the name Hundeburg, around 1050 AD. the castle was built under the more original name "Hun-Burg" i.e. Hohen-Burg. This is where today's "Hundeburg" comes from. 1249 AD it was destroyed by Sophia Landgravine von Marburg.
