The Croce della Pieve was placed on the top of the mountain, at an altitude of 942 meters above sea level. on the south - west side and is m. 5.50 and wide m. 2.30. From the information in our possession it was not possible to establish exactly whether it was the year 1912 or 1913 in which some local faithful proposed to replace the previous wooden cross (then called the cross of the Lily because a sign of purity), now old and worn. , with another more resistant. The new one took the name of Croce della Pieve as the place where it stands was included in the territory of the parish of Pieve Petroia, while the ownership of the land belonged to Ferdinando Cesaroni dei Colle del Cardinale. It is said that the day of the inauguration was attended by many people belonging to the various parishes of the area and that the parish priest of Migiana di Monte Tezio, Don Erminio Mignini, climbed to the top of the cross. Since then, every year, a great feast was organized for Ascension Day and a mass was celebrated at the cross. The day began with the procession that started from Pieve Petroia and reached up there. The chronicles say that numerous families participated in this event, coming from the areas surrounding Mount Tezio and carrying bags full of food and lots of good wine to consume during the day. The party was suspended during World War II and has not been restored since.
