Best Hikes to Rech Wine Village

Tips

  • In Rech, everything is about winegrowing. In the village there are 20 wine farms! It is hardly surprising that the cultural program also revolves around the delicious grape juice. For example, in Rech in spring, the days of re-hiking take place, while autumn is celebrated with the three-day wine festival. Speaking of which: Most of the grape varieties grown here are red. Apart from the wine, the Nepomuk bridge is remarkable in Rech. It is the oldest surviving Ahrbrücke - once over it has historical value;)

  • The small place with the big wines

                Welcome to the Rotweindorf Rech.

The wine village Rech is located in the middle of the Saffenburger Ländchens
in the heart of the wine Ahrtals.

The Saffenburg is like a balcony on one
steep slate rock, which flows around from the sides of the Ahr. Here
a unique cultural landscape was created. Generations planted
    Vine and harvested research wine.

Hospitality, joie de vivre and naturalness
determine the life of the winemakers who are here viticulture in unison
operate with nature. They see themselves as an extended family,
because Rech has barely more than 600 inhabitants, whom it is a pleasure
To welcome you as a guest and with local cuisine and cellar
    to spoil.

This is how curious visitors turn into regulars and out
    Regulars friends.

  • Rech was first mentioned in a document around 1140, when a property in "Reth" was assigned to the nearby Marienthal monastery. In 1482 the place came under the rule of Saffenburg. In the Middle Ages the village of Rech was an important place of pilgrimage. Pilgrims from far and wide venerated St. Luzia and bought cloth and linen in the market.
In 1723 the construction of the stone bridge over the Ahr began. It is the only one on the river to withstand the great flood of 1910. The statue of St. Nepomuk from 1789 fell into ruins when he fell from the parapet. Today a new Nepomuk watches over the old bridge and the old wine village.
