Recommended by 32 road cyclists
Location: Oakland, Alameda County, California, United States
The Alex Zuckermann Bicycle Pedestrian Path parallels the new Eastern Span of the Bay Bridge from Oakland to Yerba Buena Island (since Oct 2016), about mid-way to San Francisco. The path is named for recently deceased bicycle advocate Alexander Zuckermann. It is open weekends and holidays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The path will initially be closed weekdays to ensure public safety during torch cutting and other old Bay Bridge demolition activities. Hours will be extended in the spring and summer of 2017. California Highway Patrol bike police clear it out so everyone is out by sunset. Spring hours start March 12, 2017 (6am-8pm) and Summer May 26, 2017 (6am-9pm). Check Twitter (@BayBridgeInfo) and baybridgeinfo.org/path
