By the roadside, in the Maichingen area, stands the natural monument "Hoher Baum." If it could speak human language, the "Hoher Baum" could tell you all about the traffic situation of bygone days. When the then-small seedling took root, the "Weiler Weg" near Maichingen was a major connecting road between the Rhineland and southwest Germany, with considerable traffic volumes. Today, almost 400 years later, there's not much left of a main road, but there is a massive, mature linden tree, the "Hoher Baum."

If he were able to speak human language, the "high tree" could report all kinds of information about the traffic situation in days gone by. Because when the then still small seedling put down its roots, the "Weiler Weg" near Maichingen was a main connecting road between the Rhineland and southwest Germany with a considerable volume of traffic. Today, almost 400 years later, there is not much to see of a main street, but a huge, mature linden tree, the "Tall Tree".
This linden tree is one of the oldest still existing plants in the Böblingen district and, together with some "partners" in the Sindelfingen urban area, has the status of a historically and scenically significant natural monument. There is a memo from 1972 about her age; The then Oberforstrat Otto von Heider and the historian Baron Hiller von Gärtringen agree on this: the choice of the widely visible location suggests a historical occasion; either the end of the Thirty Years' War in 1648, or a few years earlier to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the introduction of the Reformation in Württemberg. This began in 1534 with the return of Duke Ulrich to Stuttgart and the appointment of the reformers Schnepf and Blarer nationwide.
The lower nature conservation authority recorded the planting date 1601 in its files in 1991.
