The origins of the Paretz village church (choir) date back to around 1200. However, it only gained importance through its early classicist remodeling in 1797/98. The initiative for this came from the Prussian Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm III, who had the village completely renovated at the same time as the castle was remodeled.
The plans and ideas for the remodeling of the church came from David Gilly, Martin Friedrich Rabe and the artistically gifted court marshal of the Crown Prince, Valentin von Massow.
The church was probably the first Prussian village church to be built in the neo-Gothic style. It has been remodeled many times, and in 2010 the interior of the church was also reconstructed to its original state. Source: Information board - Historical Paretz Association e.V.

A beautiful, quiet village church. The relief “The Apotheosis of Queen Louise” is interesting, showing the popular, popular queen who died young in 1810 in her transfigured role as the Prussian Madonna.
