As early as the 17th century, the name Bocksleite appeared in home literature without knowing where it came from and what it meant. It is known that the Bocksgraben is an artificially created watercourse and that there were considerable disputes between 1797 and 1801.

The trestle was in the 17th / 18th Century created to channel water from the source area of the Warm Steinach into the Fichtelnaab, since their water was not sufficient to operate the hammer mills.
So here water that actually flows over the Main into the North Sea was led into the Danube and the Black Sea.
