"The Ruhr Valley Museum is a museum of local history in the" Old Town Hall "to Schwerte.
The exact construction data are unknown, but it is clear that it was built in the Middle Ages and henceforth served as the town hall. The famous swordsman night watchman is said to have lived there. Schwerte's historic downtown still has some surviving old buildings that have meanwhile been restored. Unfortunately, the City Center is a late 70s complex of shops, city agencies, and public library in a central location on the market square, that replaced some of the previously more numerous half-timbered houses and alleys with 'modern' structures of questionable architectural design.
