Wide, woody, open, traffic-free - this route has it all for traffic shy cyclists. The connection to the next 9 miles from Blandford to Sturminster Newton needs a little sorting, but you can use the pavement on the A350 and avoid the worst of the traffic.

Spetisbury station was opened by the Dorset Central Railway in 1860 and later became part of the much loved Somerset & Dorset Railway. Until its closure in 1966, this important cross-country railway linked Poole and Bournemouth with Bath and the Bristol Channel coast.
