The Leipzig Zoo is a 26 hectare (including 2.1 hectares of water surface) large, park-like zoological garden on the Rosental, northwest of downtown Leipzig. It is one of the most biodiverse zoos in Europe. Since 2000 the zoo has been extensively rebuilt and expanded under the project name “Zoo of the Future”. A renovation is to take place in individual subject areas by 2022. According to the Sheridan Zoo Ranking by the Briton Anthony Sheridan, Leipzig Zoo has been number two among the best zoos in Europe (after Schönbrunn Zoo) and number one in Germany for several years.Source: Wikipedia

The Leipzig Zoological Garden is a 26 hectare park-like and extremely attractive green area northwest of Leipzig's old town, in which around 900 animal species are kept and presented. It borders on the Rosental, a city park. Since April 1, 2003, the zoo documentary Elefant, Tiger & Co. by the MDR has been telling stories from the Leipzig zoo.

If you visit the zoo in Leipzig, you should not miss the boat tour in Gondwanaland. The extra fee of 1.50 euros is worth it.
