The watermill was built in 1542. Due to the large-scale mill pond and its constantly fed from moors inflow, the Bade, the mill could be operated throughout the year.In the past century, there was a conflict of interest between the miller and some upstream bathing peasants. These dam up the brook to let their meadows temporarily flood, whereby the enterprise was considerably limited. After lengthy legal proceedings, the miller was granted the sole right to power in the bathing area and the farmers had to remove their dams again. In 1945, the former wooden bridge over the mill weir was blown up by German soldiers. At the same time the waterwheel and the weir were destroyed. It was not until 1953 that the mill and the bridge above it were rebuilt. In 1995, a new water wheel was attached to the mill, so that the mill is now fully functional again.
