Tips
De Spelleplekke lies in a depression between the Plaatsduinen and the Duinpark district, which was developed around 1930. The large nature reserve Ter Yde is located on the eastern edge of the Spelleplekke. The term Yde used to refer to a shelter.
One such harbor, Nieuwe Yde, was located at the place now called Spelleplekke, on the edge of a wide sea inlet, the Vloedgat.
Archaeological finds at the beginning of the last century, especially masses of pins ('spelle' in the dialect), provided the name for that place ('spot').
De Spelleplekke has the shape of an elongated tub with an alternation of drifting dunes and thickets. Greater level differences occur in the fringe areas.translated by
