In 1982, during the first work on a new retirement home, the foundation walls of a large castle complex were uncovered, on the site of which a castle had already stood in the 13th century that belonged to the Lords of Setterich. The remains that were excavated there essentially date from the 16th century. Today only a fragment of the wall and the archway remain, which has been a listed building since 1986. A retirement home and a parish center, which still houses a historic fountain, were built on the remaining area of the castle, which no longer exists. The floor plan of the old facility was roughly modeled. The architecture of the parish center takes up the theme of the moats.
The castle park is adjacent to the castle. From here you can reach the castle park in just 5 minutes by bike. With large meadows and a playground, it invites you to linger and play. Especially the raft pond
provides variety for children in summer and is a popular meeting point for families.
