Cala Girgolu (or Ghjlgolu) is located at the base of the Monte Petrosu promontory. This splendid bay is famous for its turquoise sea, light sand and, above all, for the famous turtle-shaped rock, from which it takes its second name.
These rocks, called "tafonate", are the result of millenary erosion caused by atmospheric agents. They were shaped by the erosion caused by the quartz crystals present in the granite, which, crumbling over time, created these suggestive formations.

In Cala Girgolu there is a not too wide but beautiful sandy beach with great views of the Book of Olbia and some islands. However, parking is very difficult here.
