The ascent from Maria Alm (816 meters) begins at the Sandten car park at around 1,130 meters. On gravel paths, it goes up the Sandten to the material cable car valley station at 1,594 meters above sea level. It continues over the mountain pine slope and the rock path secured with ropes to the Riemannhaus (2,177 meters). The path is difficult and only suitable for experienced and fit hikers.

The way from the Riemannhaus to Maria Alm runs over serpentines and along steep cliffs. On the descent you have a phenomenal view of the valley in front of you. Some parts of the path are secured with steel ropes to give you additional support.
