The 9 locks of Fonseranes are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The impressive building's origins dates back to the 17th century. To date, however, several technical innovations and structural improvements have been carried out. Overall, the locks overcome a height difference of an impressive 13.6 meters on the Canal de Midi, which connects the Mediterranean with the city of Toulouse and from there continues into the Atlantic via the Canal latéral à la Garonne. By the way, the boats need roughly 45 minutes for a complete lock.

It's fun to watch the boats start for the boats trying to pass the locks.
