Here you can watch how the hops are processed. Just ring the doorbell. Next door is the hop museum.

Anyone who takes a look at the four floors will be surprised at how many exhibits, some of which are rare, have already been collected here. A stroke of luck was the renting of this former agricultural barn by the couple Betty and Konrad Pinzer in Speikern, a barn with a concrete base and three floors in good structural condition and measuring about 12m x 10m.

The aim of this barn is to be able to present a local history collection in a few years. The second pillar should be the subject of "hops", because there is no such museum in Franconia, and this special culture around Hersbruck used to be of great importance.

The oldest piece is a grain cleaning machine from 1896, but a Holm machine that was only operated with muscle power is probably not much younger. The harness of the Neunkirchen hearse can be found as well as old sleds that used to be used for transport. Large handcarts, harrows and plows show implements that agriculture could not do without in the past.

Numerous hop plows and hop sprayers demonstrate hop cultivation and care. Three generations of hop kilns show the development of hop drying. Hop sieves, the "Metzen" collection measure and a hop scale complete the hop collection. In the meantime, breweries have given exhibits: ice tongs, malt vat, barrels, barrel crane, branding iron for barrels, bunging machine, mugs, old wooden beer crates, etc. These objects show how the hops are further processed into beer and finally bottled. Great importance is attached to the extensive hop collection, because soon there will be no more hop farmers in the Hersbruck area
