At the foot of the mountain lies the village of Stocksberg, which became part of Württemberg in the 15th century and became part of Beilstein. The hilltop, with the Stocksberg hunting lodge and the Seizengehren forest below it on the southwest slope, remained in the possession of the Counts of Löwenstein and remains an exclave of the town of Löwenstein to this day. A drive up the hill is rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the Löwenstein Mountains. A steep dirt road leads up from the village; those who prefer an easier route can take the Prevorst-Enzlenswenden road and turn off at the hikers' parking lot on the Prevorst side to reach the transmitter.

The Bottwar rises about 400 m west of the summit and flows into the Murr after about 18 km in Steinheim.
