  • Built in the neo-baroque style by a German-Russian diplomat in the years 1908 to 1912, the neo-baroque style castle is located in the eastern surroundings of Lake Schwerin, surrounded by a charming landscape.
    It has undergone varied use over the decades, served as the home of wealthy entrepreneurs and as a Soviet military command center, refugee camp and educational institution until it opened in 1996 as a modern conference hotel.
    A highlight of the hotel is the restaurant "Marstall" with its tasteful ambience. The castle is surrounded by a stately spacious garden and a large park. From here you can take long walks in the wooded area.
    The manor house was built between 1908 and 1912 for the German-Russian diplomat Wladimir Schmitz and acquired in 1927 by the Girardet family, who ran a printing works in Essen. Even when the house passed into the possession of Ernst Heinkel Flugzeugwerke in 1942, the Girardet family retained their right to housing. In view of the advancing Russian army, the family fled in April 1945. Subsequently, the manor house served in May 1945 as the seat of the Soviet military staff and refugee camps. After the renovation in 1948, the State Administration School came here, 1952, the School of Political Science and from 1970 to January 1990, the Academy of Social Economic Management.
    After the reunification, the former mansion became a training and further education center and a model facility of the Federal Labor Office. Since the beginning of 1991, the Association of Business Associations for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V. a training center. From September 1993 to 1996, the main building was extensively reconstructed and rebuilt. The owner, the Association of the metal and electrical industry e. V. (Nordmetall), had a guest house built during this time. Since April 1996, the complex presents itself as a castle hotel.
