From the Hörninger saddle heads you have a wonderful panoramic view over the rolling hills and to the southernmost foothills of the Harz Mountains. Sandy paths meander through the gypsum hump landscape, which offers a habitat for many rare plant species with its dry grassland.

Hiking

The nature reserve "Sattelköpfe" extends over large parts of the elevations of the Haardt and saddleheads near Hörningen. Its expansion in west-east direction is about two kilometers, in north-south direction, however, only a maximum of 500 meters. The saddle heads are also known as "Hörninger Kuppen". An important hiking trail on the grounds of the nature reserve is the Karstwanderweg. From the "Sattelkopf" south of the border of the reserve you have a beautiful view of the surroundings, it is simply awesome here!
