Popular crossing of the Aller for pedestrians and cyclists and a good place for a rest or picnic. Worth a detour from the nearby Aller cycle path. Information boards at the lock and weir provide information for those interested. Next crossing of the Aller downstream: Jeversen Bridge, upstream: Aller Bridge Winsen (Aller)
History: In 1908, at the urging of the Celle Tugboat Company, the Royal Prussian State decided to canalize the Aller from Celle to the mouth of the Leine. Just one year later, in 1908, a contract was signed between the state and the city of Celle in which the Prussian State committed itself to canalizing the Aller and keeping it navigable in the long term.
The old weir was built in 1909-1912 for 247,000 Rechsmarks. Replacement new building: 2007-2009 Water-filled hose closure. Construction costs €4 million Further planning: Electricity from hydropower at the Aller weir Bannetze.
The lock is a listed building and was also built between 1909 and 1912. Other locks are Oldau, Marklendorf and Hademstorf.

Very cool, you can go over it and then over the lock if you're lucky you can also watch canoeists and boaters lock themselves there. So very cool and exciting.
