The Weßling lime kiln in the Steinbeck district of Reck is the only lime kiln of this type that has survived to this day and is therefore a very special industrial monument. The current condition corresponds to that of the time after the Second World War. There was already electricity there, so the lime could be ground electrically and then sold packaged in powder form.
The lime itself was extracted on the mountain from the limestone quarries there.
The coal that was needed to heat the kiln had to be purchased.

The old lime kiln was in operation until 1963 and painstakingly restored. The history of the lime kiln can be read inside.
