The lava formations are impressive, as is the view from the lava tongue over the detached head of the Chinyero to the Teide beyond.

Varied nature, not as crowded as right on Teide. There is a 5.7 km loop which is a must!

His eruption from 18 to 27 November 1909 was the last volcanic eruption on Tenerife. Over 2 km² of land was devastated by lava and ash, but people were not harmed. [Wikipedia]

The hike around the ash cone of the Chinyero is impressive in many ways, not least of course the rugged and repellent lava flows, which give the impression of having fiercely flowed down the mountain yesterday. Nevertheless, the forest of the "Corona forrestal" stands on its edge and in places the plants regain the formerly sterile areas and you can find flowering plants in the middle of the lava fields.

Impressive landscape. Super varied, I would not have expected so. Top!
