The ruins are wildly romantic at the Stuerer See

It's interesting what happened here. There is not much left of the ruins, but you can imagine it. The setting is stunning

A short circular route leads to the area of the outer bailey and completely around the entire castle. You can see the remains of the residential tower and the moat that separates the outer and main castle. In summer, dense trees and bushes with their foliage obscure most of the site. Still very worth seeing.

According to the information board at the entrance to the circular route around the castle ruins:

"Stuer Castle is the ancestral seat of the noble family of Flotows, who played an important role in Mecklenburg history. It was probably built in the first half of the 14th century on an island in the lake lowlands, on which a Slavic castle wall might have existed before .

The mighty complex consisted of two parts, the almost rectangular outer bailey with the farm buildings and the almost triangular main castle with the residential tower and a large vaulted cellar. Both parts of the castle were secured by a deep moat and a wall, the main castle also by a wall in front of it.

The castle was abandoned in 1658 (? Difficult to read) or 16 ... (illegible) after a fire. Only the residential tower, which has been in ruins to this day, was used as a small museum until 1945. "
