The heart of Caorle was and remains the historic center, which extends between the districts of Santa Margherita (west), Falconera (east) and Sansonessa (north). Ancient fishing village, with its houses in the typical colors of the Venetian tradition that once overlooked the ancient streets now underground. In fact, Caorle is called "The Venice in miniature". The presence of calli, campielli and picturesque houses recall the shapes of the lagoon city. The fulcrum of the historic center is the recently renovated Piazza Vescovado, which has become not only a religious place but an authentic meeting point. In this square stands the oldest and most important building in the city, the cathedral, erected in 1038. Inside there are interesting works of art and significant Roman finds can be found in the apse.

The cylindrical bell tower dates back to the 11th century. The tower recalls the Ravenna models of the Byzantine tradition with Romanesque elements. The interior has been recently renovated and wooden stairs allow you to reach the top of the millenary tower and thus be able to admire the unique panorama of the sea and its lagoon. Also to be admired is the "cloister" which replaces the former Carabinieri barracks, which is located near the square. Also of great value is the recovery of the wall frescoes of what was the oratory of San Rocco, protector from the plague. With this "cloister", a small archaeological itinerary was born, centered on the Roman wellhead, located right in the center of the garden.
