In 1230, when Christianity was blossoming, Cistercian monks founded a monastery in Wickstadt with a large agricultural estate. This developed splendidly and was gradually expanded. In 1709 it received its structure, which has remained unchanged to this day. In addition to large grain stores and many stables for field and carriage horses, the estate includes a recently renovated domain castle, which is used privately by the current owners, the Counts of Solms-Rödelheim and Assenheim. In 1709, a small baroque church was added, which has been perfectly renovated and is still used occasionally.

Particularly exciting are the servants' houses on the edge of the estate, which are built close together in the medieval half-timbered style and could easily serve as a film backdrop. Artists, health practices, specialist restorers and also a cooking studio have found living and working spaces in this unique group of houses. In normal times, the residents organize an annual artist festival. One can hardly imagine a better ambience than this farmstead, which has remained unchanged since 1750.
