➔ The castle was the seat of the barons and counts of Korff called Schmising for over 470 years. It is mentioned in documents as early as 1491, the owner at that time was the knight Bernd Hoberg.
➔ The existing building stock was initially built in the Weser Renaissance style.
➔ The construction of the main house and the first east wing with pinnacles and a stair tower began in 1540 on foundations from the 14th century after the Korff-Schmising family acquired the property in 1524 (Heinrich Korff-Schmising was the son-in-law of the last Hoberg).
➔ The second east wing was added together with the tower around 1671. At the beginning of 1700, the main entrance, the terrace and the west wing were added in a simple baroque style.
